The Pursuit of MANHOOD

"Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment."--Ecclesiastes 11:9 - This blog is dedicated to Adam's fervent journey into becoming a man. Or just a blog about his life and thoughts in general.

Pursuit of Manhood Special - Girly Songs

Note: don't assume you know these songs - watch the videos!

My guilty pleasure is girly music. Think its lame? I will fight you. With my bare hands. In an octagon ring. On your birthday.

Here are some songs that of late I've enjoyed:

1) Christina Aguilera - Reflection - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIm4Ub17FB4
This is my favourite vocal performance of all time. Don't hate.

2) The Corrs - What can I do? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRjSgYI5r-4
Why are these Irish girls (+ completely ignored brother on guitar) NOT huge in Canada? They play traditional irish instruments! And I know what you're wondering - and yes, I did look up the guitar tab. I agree with the Irish.

3) Michelle Branch - Goodbye to You - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00BkWO2JTSk
Pouty face + Big shades + basic chord progression = into Adam's heart.

4) Avril Lavigne - Things I'll Never Say - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yfH_jfuO9E
Her double-entendres aside, this ode to marriage allows sugary-sweet popness to seep through this Napanee native's unladylike posture. Btw, i am thoroughly annoyed by the blond kid.

5) Natalie Imbruglia - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATXKM-FL3WE
Had this stuck in my head the last while. I actually really enjoy this video. I for some reason especially enjoy her looks of angst flailing in her jacket during the chorus. Have tried to resist learning this song on guitar.. but in light of the fact i checked out that Corrs song, i might as well..

Well, feel free to give your comments. But again - I will fight you.

Nice! The Corrs are one of my favourite bands of all-time. I love em! I wish they were bigger here because then they might actually decide that doing a concert would be worth it. Unfortunately I don't think that's happening anytime soon unless they too succumb and come out with an R&B album produced by Timbaland and/or Dark Child... ugh
